Jane is a member of the Nomadic Academy of Fools, a travelling theatre company directed by Jonathan Kay. Once a year the Academy lands in Liverpool and gives performances of Shakespeare’s Richard II, as well as offering weekend workshops in the art of Fooling. The Black-E’s main space is a wonderful venue for these workshops.
Working as a volunteer for the archive project at the Black-E gives Jane an interesting overview of all the Arts projects that have been going on here over the last forty years. In particular she enjoys reading the correspondence, which fills in so much of the picture and expresses people’s personal points of view of the projects they have participated in.
Jane is inspired by those people who over the years have put so much dedication and heart into the Black-E and the community it serves. Liverpool would be diminished without them.
