“The XXtra 21: The art of living in association with Down Syndrome Liverpool, is one of the most exciting and inspirational exhibitions coming to Liverpool this year.”

down syndrome logoOn the 23rd April 2013, Down Syndrome Liverpool will hold a press opening for its XXtra 21, two day exhibition at the Black-E Contemporary Art Centre. Through art, photography and live performances the charity aims to celebrate the lives and achievements of people with Down Syndrome.

On 24th-25th April, the general public can explore the talents of professional artists with Down Syndrome from Heart & Sold, the achievements of Down Syndrome Liverpool members who compete for their country, and also the beautifully moving work of drama group Company of Friends all for FREE.

On the final day of the exhibition there will be an exclusive auction in which all of the pieces showcased will be for sale. All proceeds will go to Heart & Sold and Down Syndrome Liverpool to support more families in the Merseyside area who are affected by Down Syndrome.

Amy Burn, Publicist at Down Syndrome Liverpool said: “This exhibition is the first of its kind within Merseyside and is truly unique. Our aim is to give the general public an emotive and heart-warming experience, while changing people’s negative perspectives of Down Syndrome. The XXtra 21 exhibition is truly beautiful and poignant. It is a must see.”

With more exciting updates to follow, this event is looking to be very popular.

Exhibition dates: 24th -25th April 2013

The Black-E is open, Tuesday through to Saturday 10am to 6pm.
